Sankalp 2009

The play to be performed this year is “Silence, The Court is in Session”, a political and social satire penned by Vijay Tendulkar. It is set as a play within a play, and the main focus of the play is to bring out our middle-class society’s hypocrisy. It deals with the perceptions of a group of farcical, petty, self righteous individuals about a 34 year old, unmarried woman. Although the play initially deals with the pettiness and pretentiousness of the people involved with hilarious consequences, the denouement of the play brings out the helplessness of the victim, who is torn down by the hidden mesh of society as characterized by her theatrical antagonists.

The final production is a culmination of massive efforts of teams handling sponsorship, production, set designs, media and logistics. It is to be staged at Natarani amphitheatre on 4^th, 5^th, 6^thDecember 2009
