The Sankalp Girl Child Education Programme is an initiative that began in 2007 for the uplift of the girl child. Sankalp sponsors the education of a deserving candidate each year in this endeavour.
The students at MICA had always had an interactive relationship with the villages surrounding the institute and actively involve themselves in the welfare of these villages. They noticed that very few girls continue to secondary education due to financial constraints and hence set up this fund to assist them in their endeavors.
This initiative began when the play at Sankalp 2007, ‘Jeene Bhi Do Yaaro’, ran to packed houses and large profits were realized from ticket sales. In order to put these profits to good use, the Sankalp girl Child Education Programme was founded, whereby, every year, the proceeds from the ticket sales are donated to a meritorious candidate who does not have the means to continue with her education. The first beneficiary of this foundation was Shubhan Khokkhar, of the Telav Village.
